British Airways to resume flights to China on 9th August

British Airways will resume flights to mainland China from Sunday, 9th August, with tickets on sale on ba.com and via travel agents immediately.

The London Heathrow to Shanghai Pudong route will initially operate each Thursday and Sunday, providing more options for customers in the UK who want to return to mainland China.

Flights between London and Beijing remain suspended but British Airways continues to liaise closely with the Chinese authorities with the aim of resuming operations to Beijing Daxing International Airport at the earliest opportunity.

“I know many of our customers in both countries have been waiting to be reunited with friends and family and to resume their employment and studies,” said Noella Ferns, BA’s Executive Vice President Greater China and the Philippines. “We look forward to welcoming them back on board.

“We aim to reopen the Shanghai to London route to passengers, including students taking up places at UK universities this autumn, as soon as possible. Vital medical cargo will continue to be shipped from China to the UK on the return leg during this period,” said Ferns.

British Airways, which has been flying to mainland China for almost 40 years, has introduced a range of measures to keep customers safe. Prior to travel, they will receive information on changes at their airport and onboard experience and tips on how to prepare for their journey.
